Bonanza which ran on NBC was the second longest running western series on TV behind all-time leader Gunsmoke. It ran for 14 seasons with 430 episodes from 1959 to 1973.
This television western centered around the Cartwright family who lived on a huge area of land named the Ponderosa. Unlike the typical western, Bonanza dealt more with family issues than problems of the range or outlaws.
The Cartwright family consisted of the widowed patriarch Ben (Lorne Greene) and his three sons, Adam (Pernell Roberts), Eric "Hoss" (Dan Blocker), and Joseph "Little Joe" (Michael Landon).
Most of Bonanza's airing was on Sundays in the 9PM to 10PM time slot (September 24, 1961 to April 2, 1972). This is when I remember watching it.
According to Wikipedia, Bonanza was the single biggest television series of the 1960s.
