Colt .45 aired on ABC from October, 1957 through September, 1960. It was a half-hour, black and white series which was loosely based on the 1950 Warner Brothers movie Colt .45 starring Randolph Scott.
This TV western was about undercover government agent Christopher Colt whose cover was a traveling pistol salesman. Wayde Preston (1929 - 1992) played the lead role.
Colt .45 did fairly well in the ratings its first season. But by season two things changed. Lead actor Wayde Preston left the series due to dissatisfaction with working conditions. The show's sponsorship changed frequently too.
