The Wild Wild West was a western with a twist which aired on CBS for four seasons (Septembr 17, 1965 through April 4, 1969). It consisted of 104, one hour episodes.

The weekly series starred Robert Conrad (b. 1935) as James West and Ross Martin as Artemis Gordon (1920 - 1981). The Wild Wild West was designed to be the western's answer to the spy movie genre. James Bond movies were hugely popular during this era.

The shows time period was during the presidency of Ulysses S. Grant. Conrad and Martin portrayed secret service agents who protected the president and foiled clever enemies bent on power.
